SANTECH MANTRA 2018
 

The ninth edition of "SANTECH MANTRA" an inter-polytechnic technical competition meet, involving neighbouring polytechnics in Ballari and Davanagere district was organised by Sandur Polytechnic on Saturday, 22 Sept 2018.

The Chief Guest of the function was Dr. D.V. Kamath, Professor, Electronics & Communication Engg, Manipal Institute of Technology and Sri. T. M. Aleem Ahmed, Principal, Sandur Polytechnic, presided over the function.

Department-wise events and paper presentations were conducted on topics relevant to current trends in Industries. These activities were designed to help students learn to maintain healthy competitive spirit and enhance their employability.

The topics for paper presentations were, Ground Improvements Techniques, Intelligent Transport System , AI and white collar automation, 5G-Techonology, Gi-Fi, Hybrid power generation, Intelligent management of Electrical system in Industries, Aerodynamics in Vehicles and Flying windmill. The Practical events involved, Preparing Civil model using Thermocol, Debugging in C-language, Assembly language 8051 programming using keil IOE, Winding diagram of AC motors using AutoCAD -2005, Machining on Lathe.

Apart from Sandur Polytechnic, students from Govt Polytechnic, HSK Polytechnic and Sanjay Gandhi Polytechnic, Ballari, TMAES polytechnic and Sir M V Polytechnic, Hosapete, SES Polytechnic, Siruguppa, and Govt. Polytechnic, Harapanahalli, took part in the competitions and were highly enthusiastic in exhibiting their innate talents.

The Chief Guest Dr. D.V. Kamath addressed the gathering and expressed the importance of technical education in rural areas. He took pride in being a part of this celebration and expressed deep sense of gratitude to the management for having given an opportunity to serve in this institution in the Dept. of EC at Sandur Polytechnic for a period of 6 years (1989-1995) and after that he went for pursuing M.Tech course. He emphasised on the points to be followed while pursuing P G courses and acquiring PhD in technical subjects.

Principal, Mr. T. M. Aleem Ahmed paid tribute to the founder patron, educationist, philanthropist and a great visionary, late Shri M. Y. Ghorpade and stressed that one should adhere to the human values as they acquire technical qualification. He said, Teachers are nation builders completely supported by Engineers. He opined that every institution must celebrate events like Santechmantra which salutes two great personalities and recipients’ of Bharatha Ratna who did yeomen service in building of the nation, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was one of the greatest teacher, philosopher and Sir M Vishwesharaya was the greatest engineer of India.

In the feedback session, students from other polytechnics expressed happiness and their gratitude to the principal and the institution for having arranged the competition. They appealed the principal to continue organising such events every year to help students get exposure to the latest developments in technical fields.

Prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest and the President and the programme ended with vote of thanks followed by National Anthem.
